City of Gifts – François Mitterrand:
The former Septennat and Costume museums are brought together here. It houses the official and personal gifts received by the President of the Republic, François Mitterrand, during his time in office and donated by him to the Nièvre Department. You will also find a landscaped garden. Temporary exhibitions are organized here.

Astronomical Observatory: opening 2026
The astronomical and scientific complex of Montagne du Calvaire in Château-Chinon Town. Located on a unique historical site, it will offer a dual experience: 360° landscape views and stargazing through a modern observatory. The site will be freely accessible on foot or by bike, with an electric shuttle service planned for the summer season. Visitors will be able to enjoy: an immersive planetarium, self-guided observation evenings from a terrace open 24/7, and a one-meter diameter telescope—the largest in France open to the public.

The Mobile Fountain by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, one of only three such fountains in the world, is located in front of the town hall.
